A character you love to hate

Okay, I don't love to hate this character... I simply hate them.  This is a serious ordeal for me.  As a Pisces I can usually view personalities from different perspectives and find one redeeming quality in every character, but not this one.  I hate her.  I was reading Shiver, Linger, and Forever the Wolves of Mercy Falls series and could not stand Shelby.  I remember thinking throughout the series that someone should just take her out of existance... another strong and unxpected emotion.  I never felt that way about a real person or a fictional character. 

Sadistic and violent, void of emotion.
Her wolf body the only one she desires.
Evokes feelings of hate, burdening those around her.
Leaves her mark on the world by destroying and harming.
Bothered by Sam's and Grace's humanity -- seeing it as a weakness.
Young, but already lost to a blackened heart.

This week's topic:

(a little twist) A fictional character you'd want as your best friend (the acrostic can be the name, but make sure to mention the title of the book in your post)

Hmmmm.... this week's meme is pretty hard.  I was trying to think of all the characters I've read over the years, but nothing came to mind.  I decided to go with the characters of my current book I was reading: The Hunger Games.  There were a lot to choose from , but I quickly decided that Peeta would be my choice.  Going along with Jenna's thought process... this guy would be a great BFF... benefits wouldn't be horrible though! (hehehe)

Peeta, the baker's son, embodies hope in his gentle gestures.
Enamored with Katrina long before they're condemned into the Games.
Eloquency, intelligence, and kindness his greatest arsenals to defend her.
Tasked himself to be her support, ally, protector, friend...
And possible lover.

This week's topic:

Favorite self-published book (or, if you don't have one, a book that is underpublicized that more people should know about)

I had to take a hiatus for a week, but I like this meme and am going to try my hardest to keep up every week. For this week' acrostic I chose Switched by Amanda Hocking.  It is no longer a self-published book she just re-released, but it was a series I loved.  I also loved Amanda Hocking's story of how she went about publishing the book herself... very inspiring. This is the first self published book I ever read.

 


Separated, emotionally and mentally, from those around her Wendy Everly always   
     remained on the outskirts of social acceptance.


Wendy’s own mother perceives her peculiarities and impulsively attempts her     
     assassination – by way of a butcher’s knife on Wendy’s sixth birthday.

Imposter and pretender her mother exclaimed, convinced her child was not her own.

Through the years Wendy partially accepted her mother’s behavior as madness, but      
     an innate suspicion always remained.
